School Nurse

The School Nurse Teacher at Smithfield High School is the sole healthcare provider in the academic setting. The school nurse supports student success by providing health care through assessment, intervention, and follow-up for all children within the school setting. School nursing practice is policy driven by the Rhode Island Department of Health and student‐centered.

The school nurse works diligently with support staff, faculty, parents/guardians and health care providers to support and address the physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs of students and supports their achievement in the learning process.
