EEE/Mosquito Update - Town and School Departments are working together to monitor the EEE risk and decrease mosquito populations in Smithfield.

Thank you to the Veterans of Foreign Wars for their generous donation of $5,000 to the Smithfield School Department which will fund $1,000 scholarships to SHS seniors with a familial connection to the armed services.

Dear Members of our School Community (and those from throughout the state!),
Unfortunately a sentence I included in an email was misinterpreted from its intended meeting. I had stated, "I hope all the news about Providence schools doesn't let people think that poor attendance is a characteristic of all teachers!" My meaning was that all the negative statements from the press should not be applied to all teachers. Unfortunately, social media has altered the meaning of the sentence. Again, the sentence was not meant to be disrespectful but, instead, was meant to indicate that the press's comments about the attendance rates should not be applied to all teachers and I meant ALL teachers - both in Providence and Smithfield. I am sorry for any bad feelings this misinterpretation has caused. I was a former Providence teacher myself!
