Hello OCRS families,
This week has another "zig zag" in the typical schedule with no school for students on Thursday, 11/17. Teachers will be attending professional development on Thursday and the high school and middle school will be hosting parent-teacher conferences. We do have school as normal on Friday, 11/18.
It looks like the weather is going to be much colder this week, particularly to start each day. Just as a reminder, students go outside for recess and are outside for morning arrival if the wind chill/"feels like" temperature is greater than 20 degrees, so it's important for students to wear warm layers. We appreciate your help in making sure that OCRS students come to school dressed for the cold as we say goodbye to the recent unseasonable 70 degree weather!
Potential Intermittent Phone Service Outage on Monday
We have been notified that Cox Communications will be doing some maintenance work in the area of the school from 12:00 noon to 7:00 PM that may result in service outages. This means that it is possible that the school may have some phone and internet outages on Monday. Our district technology staff is standing by to reroute calls to the district office if necessary. We also have contingency plans in place if we need to place any emergency calls from the school. If you try to call the school on Monday and you are not able to get through, you may want to call the district office at 401-231-6606 and leave a message that the district office can share with us.
School Pictures Retakes
School pictures retakes are scheduled for Tuesday, November 22nd. Information about picture retakes was sent home with any students that may have missed the initial school picture day. Families can order photos online at https://my.lifetouch.com/mylifetouch/#/ using the OCRS "Picture Day ID" EVTPQ9XPK. Lifetouch offers free shipping on any order of $29.99 or greater using the code SHIPFREEF22.
Dental and Vision Screening for Students
Our annual school vision screening is currently taking place with Mrs. Forte and will continue throughout November. Please forward to Mrs. Forte any eye exams that your child may have had recently or if they have an upcoming eye exam appointment.
Dr. Greg Stepka, DMD will be conducting our dental screenings on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at OCRS. This is only a screening and does not take the place of a true dental hygiene appointment. Please complete the online permission form if you would like your child to participate in the dental screening at school.
