Hello OCRS families,
Thank you for how many of you came out on Thursday evening for the OCRS Open House! It was terrific to see families in person again and to be able to share the school construction and renovations with our school community. We even had former OCRS students come to see what the school looked like which was wonderful.
Back to School Report #6
Like last year, Dr. Paolucci will be sharing a weekly report with Smithfield families to provide the latest information on COVID-19 information and protocols. Reviewing and updating your student's information
The school district is asking all families to update and confirm the information that we have in our information system for your student(s) by Friday, October 1st. This is a process that the district undertakes annually and we’re using an online process this year that makes things quicker and easier without needing to return paper forms to the school. Here are the types of information that families are being asked to review and update:
- Family information
- Phone and email contact information
- Affirmation of Student policies
- Acceptable Use
- Equipment Loan
- FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act)
- Whether or not you give permission for the school to publish photos of your child on the school website or social media pages
Families will use the Smithfield Infinite Campus Parent Portal to complete the student information review and update process. Please set aside about 15 minutes to complete the online forms. Also, please do NOT use a mobile device to try and complete the online forms. A laptop, desktop computer, or a tablet with a large screen are the best tools to use.

Message from the Smithfield School Nurses about COVID Guidelines and Protocols
The school nurses from all five Smithfield schools have put together a letter to families to provide information about the RIDOH/RIDE COVID guidelines and protocols that are being followed in terms of student illness and testing. We thank Mrs. Forte and her colleagues for working on this letter for students' families and we hope that it is helpful. The letter is linked at https://5il.co/zl4h.
Please Return Student Chromebooks
If you have not already done so, PLEASE return your 1st grade through 5th grade student's school Chromebook that they took home over the summer to continue their learning. All 1st through 5th grade classrooms are beginning to use the student Chromebooks, so it's extremely important that any Chromebooks that have not been returned are brought back ASAP. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher and Mr. Barrette.
