Hello OCRS families,
We have a full week of school this week before the February Break begins on Monday, 2/19.
Bring Someone Special to Lunch Days
We are working with Chartwells, our district food service provider, to bring back our popular "Bring Someone Special to Lunch" days! In the upcoming weeks we are inviting parents/guardians to come to school and join their child for lunch. This is a fun way to invite parents and students to spend some time together at school and also for parents to have an opportunity to try the school lunches!
An email was sent out to all OCRS families on Saturday, 1/20 with the details and a link to sign-up to attend "Bring Someone Special to Lunch". This Wednesday, 2/14, we invite Kindergarten and 3rd grade parents/guardians to join their child for lunch. If you haven't already, all parents/guardians/adult family members must sign-up ahead of time using the online form below.

Upcoming Spirit Days
We want to provide families with lots of lead time for the Spirit Days planned for February.
Wednesday, February 14th: Valentine’s Day
Wear Red or Pink to Celebrate Valentine's Day!
USDA Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program at OCRS
In partnership with Chartwells, Old County Road School has been selected to join the USDA Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program! As part of this program, four days per week our students will have opportunities to sample different types of fresh fruit and vegetables in their classrooms. The program is beginning this coming week on Tuesday, so ask your child after school what fruit or vegetable they were able to try each day! Mrs. Forte is working with Chartwells to monitor what fruits and vegetables are beverages to keep our students with food allergies safe.
Kids Heart Challenge "Jump Rope for Heart"
It’s time for the Kids Heart Challenge! Old County Road School is helping the American Heart Association build healthier lives free from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. The Kids Heart Challenge is a community service opportunity designed to help students learn about the importance of making healthy choices to take care of their hearts. Students will also help improve the health and hearts of others by collecting donations in support of the American Heart Association and its research, education and advocacy work right here in Rhode Island and across the country.
The Kids Heart Challenge activities will take place during Physical Education classes in February. All students in grades K through 5 will join in heart healthy activities during P.E. with Mr. Gruczka. If your family would like to help with a donation, please consider using the American Heart Association’s online donation program. We understand every family may not be able to donate, however, all students will enjoy and learn from the heart healthy educational experiences that will be shared during our program. We encourage online donations. To get started: Go to https://bit.ly/KidsHeartChallenge24 and Sign up to participate! (*You may also use your mobile device.
