GMS Art Show - GMS art teachers, Mrs. Jessica DeRemer and Mr. William Plante, have compiled a virtual art show to showcase the GMS student art work from this year. It is now posted on the GMS website (news item).

Construction of new Sallyport entrances for SHS and GMS has started and is expected to be completed early this summer.

Thanks to district funding, donations from the baseball boosters and others, DPW workers, and volunteers engaged by Representative Bernie Hawkins, the SHS baseball dugouts, backstop fencing, and fields were ready for play in advance of the 2020 season. The cancellation of spring sports, unfortunately, postpones the inaugural use of these facilities. A formal "thank you" to all contributors will be included in the June district newsletter.

This little lady decided to lay an egg right in the middle of our construction zone. Luckily, our construction workers believe in safety first & put a circle of protection around her! But seriously, if anyone knows a safe way to remove bird and nest, contact the superintendent!

Smithfield Teachers... We hope your ears have been ringing! Here's what parents, students, and community members have to say about you!

Special thanks go to Eric Covino of Creative Signals, LLC, a Smithfield company, who made a generous gift to the Smithfield school lunch program. Through his donation we were able to clear all negative balances in the program for 228 students. Some students do not qualify for free or reduced meals as the USDA eligibility guidelines have an extremely low threshold for annual income. For some families who are struggling financially due to COVID-19, the kindness and generosity of others makes all the difference.

Goodby asphalt, hello future courtyard.
