Dear Smithfield Staff and Families,
This 48th edition of the Return to School report - the last edition! - includes our weekly report on COVID cases, town data, and the yearly recap.
A Weekly Report on COVID Cases
There were NO new cases this week. The total number of cases in our school community was 360 since the start of the school year.
Yearly Recap/Summer Plans
Thank you to our administrators, nurses, teachers, parents, and students for making this year productive and safe. We are proud of the work that was done to maximize our students’ time in classrooms.
For the summer, we will continue to follow RIDOH guidelines for in-person summer programming and have been asked to continue to help with contact tracing for positive cases. Let’s hope that there will be no cause for renewed restrictions. The administrative team will also be monitoring cases in our community throughout the summer and, although we now believe that normal operations will resume in the fall, will be poised to adapt, should the need arise.
Town Data
There have been less than five new cases in the Town of Smithfield for each of the past 3 weeks. This corresponds to a daily rate of less than 1 new case per 21,650 residents, or less than 5 per 100,000. This data is available at https://bit.ly/2PxCgDM.
Sincerely,
Judy Paolucci, Superintendent
